Serving the Basotho
in Lesotho.
Great Commission Lesotho exists to make disciples among the Basotho people.
Engage the Basotho with the gospel. Build relationships. Disciple. Train leaders. Plant churches.
Evangelism & Discipleship
The gospel is shared with Basotho using a Two Kingdoms presentation comparing the kingdoms of light and darkness. The Basotho are encouraged to turn from the bondage of darkness as they are rescued and brought into the light, experiencing freedom through Jesus. Discipleship lessons help the Basotho understand their new life in Jesus and how to share with others. Discipleship training prepares the Basotho to study and apply Scripture as they abide with Christ. The Basotho are given the opportunity to memorize seven scriptures to receive their first Bible.
Trauma Healing
Trauma is experienced by almost all Basotho at some point in their lives. In partnership with Multiplying Hope, specific Bible stories are shared with participants and practiced while sharing their own stories with a partner in a safe environment. As they internalize these Bible stories, a sense of hope and meaning takes place in their heart. Many participants experience the love of Christ for the first time as they relate to the Bible stories, are listened to, and apply what they have learned to their own lives. Participants experience true healing when they learn to give their sufferings to God and experience new beginnings.
Pastor Training
Because there is a lack of theological training in Lesotho, we have partnered with World Hope Ministries International to provide theological training for pastors and church leaders. Church partners join us in teaching the various theological topics. Ultimately the goal is for Basotho to train Basotho so that it is reproduced and multiplied throughout the entire country. We also walk alongside pastors and church leaders and provide training for their day-to-day shepherding of their flocks.
Orphan Care Ministry
Lesotho has one of the highest rates of orphans and vulnerable children in the world. We continually seek to partner with local communities and churches to provide for orphans and vulnerable children. We are working with established Basotho churches and a US partner to develop sustainable, biblical strategies to cast a vision for Basotho churches to care for orphans and vulnerable children. We desire to walk with them by providing encouragement, training, and special assistance when needed.
